New details have emerged of what went on at an infamous Logan meetup by celebrity Youtuber Spanian, during which police cars were attacked and three men were charged.
On March 9 and 10, celebrity Youtuber Spanian arrived in Logan from NSW to record one of his infamous “Into The Hood” videos.
The reformed criminal, whose real name is Anthony Lees and who has amassed more than 80 million views on his YouTube channel, was met with a rousing reception by 350 fans.
But events escalated quickly and police car doors were kicked and items thrown at officers, resulting in one man being taken into custody and a further two people being charged.
Jacob Neil Armstrong appeared in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on July 12 to face charges of spitting on a police officer’s foot during the event.
The 20-year-old Logan Central man was visible in the crowd in Spanian’s video, which has garnered almost a million views online.
Mr Armstrong was charged with one count of serious assault of a police officer.
In unrelated alleged offences, the mullet-sporting Spanian fan was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, enter premises and two counts of possession of dangerous drugs.
The court heard the alleged enter premises offence occurred on September 8, 2023.
Mr Armstrong was also charged with receiving tainted property, trespass and possession of drug utensils.
Defence lawyer Tamara Lawton said some charges related to the Brisbane jurisdiction and the rest would remain in Logan.
“There’s a group of three offences that need to be adjourned to court three for case conferencing in three weeks,” she said.
“I’m seeking to essentially split the file. I’ll put the serious assault charge aside and adjourn the Brisbane matters to Brisbane Magistrates Court.”
Magistrate David Shepherd said fresh bail needed to be signed for the Brisbane and Logan charges.
“There will be a new bail undertaking, granted on the same conditions,” he said.
The charges of serious assault of a police officer, enter dwelling and two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle were adjourned to August 7 in Beenleigh Magistrates Court.
The remaining charges were adjourned to July 31 in Brisbane Magistrates Court.
