A young Logan mother mounted a kerb in her car and hit a tree after an abusive argument got out of hand, a court has heard.

Cloe Jessica Byrnes, 24, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on March 18 to dangerous operation of a vehicle, wilful damage, threats and using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence.

The court heard that on October 3, 2023 in Beenleigh, Byrnes had an argument with a woman over a gift they had destroyed.

“I’m gonna cause a scene, I’m gonna get my money off that b--ch,” she said at the Beenleigh house.

Byrnes, from Marsden, then got in her car and reversed away erratically, mounting the kerb and running over a small tree.

She also hit an innocent bystander’s car who was doing a removalist job on the same street.

The court heard Byrnes also sent a number of abusive text message and made several calls to an ex-partner.

Byrnes, originally from NSW, left the man 20 text messages and nine missed calls in a day.

Defence lawyer Zane Chapman said Byrnes moved to Queensland when she was 10, was a mother of one and worked as a bond cleaner.

“My client doesn’t make any excuse for her offending, she was however not taking her medication at the time,” he said.

Magistrate Tracy Mossop said this was very poor behaviour and sentenced Byrnes to a two-year probation order.

Convictions were recorded and she was ordered to complete 40 hours of community service.
