A Brisbane monster truck show company infamous for a terrifying stunt car crash into a 10-year-old girl, has entered liquidation.
Kedron-based Ultimate Monster Shows recently entered into voluntary liquidation.
The company is owned by Troy Neil Garcia, who has organised monster shows across the country and driven monster trucks for 25 years.
Mr Garcia went before the Brisbane Magistrates Court on November 10, 2020, charged with breaching workplace health and safety duties over a crash at the Mt Gravatt showgrounds in 2018.
On October 27, 2018, Brisbane man Mark Bluck was watching the Ultimate Monster Show at Mt Gravatt, in Brisbane’s south, with his three children and partner when a stock car crashed through barriers.
The rust-coloured vehicle ploughed through a barricade, hitting his daughter Lilly and his partner Kelly Harris.
Lilly was momentarily trapped under the car, as horrified onlookers rushed to the family’s aid.
Some rushed to help Mr Bluck lift the vehicle off his daughter.
Incredibly, Lilly suffered only bruising to her ankle, while Kelly walked away from the ordeal with scratches.
Mr Garcia pleaded guilty, his company was fined $25,000 and Mr Garcia was placed on a $4000 recognisance.
No convictions were recorded.
Appointed liquidator Paul Nogueira from Worrells said Ultimate Monster Shows ceased trading March 24, 2024 and the company owes $170,000 to creditors.
Mr Nogueira said further investigation will reveal the creditors and cited initial investigations suggest that a downturn in the industry and economy overall, appear to be the key factors in the company’s liquidation.
Mr Garcia was contacted for comment.
