SPECTATORS have slammed the organisers of a monster truck show in Brisbane’s south after a mother and her two daughters were injured as a car ploughed into the crowd last night.
Hundreds were shocked after a stunt car breached a barrier and hit three people about 30 minutes into the Ultimate Monster Show at Mount Gravatt Showgrounds.

All three suffered minor injuries, with the most serious a possible fractured ankle for a 10-year-old girl.
Jan Price told The Sunday Mail her nephew managed to pull his son to safety, but the two girls and their mother were stuck in the car’s path.
“The younger daughter has some grazes on her face as well as shock and (the mother) has cuts and bruises on her legs,” she said.
Witnesses said the car had been doing tricks on the grass before the accident, with some suggesting the vehicle’s brakes may have failed.
“The car was going slowly so no one moved – I think everyone assumed it was going to stop before it hit the barrier,” a woman, who would only be named as Lauren, said.
“It wasn’t going very fast and didn’t skid. It just rolled into the crowd. If the brakes were working, the car would have been able to stop.”
Chris Wilson said the family had been sitting right up against the barrier.
“There were two stunt cars on the field, one had rolled – they’re designed to roll over – and the other had gone over an (inflatable) ramp and I think it was supposed to roll, but it didn’t, it hit the ground nose-first, dug into the ground then went through the barrier,” he said.
“The driver was in the car for a while afterwards, then he got out and checked everyone was OK, he was walking around.”
Mr Wilson said it was “utter madness” as bystanders scrambled to move the car off the victims as organisers tried to carry on with the show.
“A couple of people on motorbikes came out on the other side to take the emphasis off but it didn’t work, everyone was watching what had happened,” he said.
A large crowd left immediately afterwards, but many stayed to enjoy the rest of the show, which continued as planned on the other side of the grounds, while police photographed the scene.
Some are demanding refunds, accusing organisers of poor safety for spectators.
“There were no paramedics on site, which is ridiculous for an event like that,” one said.
The organisers did not respond to requests for comment but said on social media that the accident involved “a mechanical failure”.
Police interviewed the driver. It is understood the matter will be investigated by the Office of Workplace Safety.
