A McDonald’s that went viral after social media images of an employee drying a mop in a fries warmer has faced backlash again.

A McDonald’s franchise has come under fire for the second time in a month for food safety procedures after footage emerged of a tradesman standing on a food prep area in boots was posted by a customer on Sunday.

It came after social media photos of a worker at the same restaurant drying a mop in a fries warmer gained international media attention.

A southeast Queensland mother, who took the latest photo, said she was disgusted to see the tradesman’s boots near food on a bench top.

“First it was the McMop and now this at the exact same store,” the mother said.

Gross! Worst things we have ever found in our food

Another Booval resident said she felt sick looking at the image.

“It doesn’t matter if it is a Maccas employee or a tradie, it’s still unhygienic. He could at least (have) used a ladder,” another resident said.

One woman posted: “You can sanitise a bench but you can’t un-deep fry a tradie”.

A McDonald’s spokesman said the company was extremely disappointed to see the latest behaviour.

We have taken action to remove the individual contractor, who was newly hired, from working in our restaurants,” he said.

As a priority, we are retraining our restaurants and contractors to ensure this does not happen again.
