A Logan man has been charged with armed robbery after allegedly holding a gun to a driver’s face and stealing his money during a Facebook Marketplace sale, a court has heard.

A Logan man has been charged with armed robbery after allegedly holding a gun to a driver’s face and stealing his money during a Facebook Marketplace sale, a court has heard.

Benjamyn Matano Manuao Kepu, 27, applied for bail in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on June 14.

The Kingston man was charged with armed robbery, assault occasioning bodily harm, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and stealing.

Footage was played to the court of a man police alleged was Mr Kepu sitting in the passenger seat of a car and putting a gun to another man’s head while angrily demanding he give him money.

In the video, Mr Kepu allegedly told the driver to open his phone and transfer money to a bank account.

He allegedly continually pointed the gun at the driver’s head while hurling abuse at him and threatening to kill him, the court was told.

The alleged incident occurred on June 10 in Loganlea.

Mr Kepu also allegedly stole $45 cash from the man.

The court heard the meeting occurred after Mr Kepu lured the man through a fake advertisement on Facebook Marketplace.

Magistrate Ron Kilner denied bail for Mr Kepu and adjourned the matter to August 6.

A brief of evidence was ordered on the armed robbery charge which was due by July 25.
