‘Beloved’ Logan dad Jacob Bramhall Straub killed in tragic crash on son’s fifth birthday

The 26-year-old motorcyclist killed in a horrific crash south of Brisbane overnight has been identified as a “beloved dad” who was recently engaged and tragically died on his son’s fifth birthday.

The 26-year-old motorcyclist killed in a horrific crash in Kuraby has been remembered as a “beloved dad” who tragically died on the day of his son’s fifth birthday.

Slacks Creek dad Jacob Bramhall Straub, 26, was travelling east on a motorcycle along Compton Road near the intersection of Allingham Street just before 11.30pm Tuesday when the fatal crash happened.

Initial investigations suggest Mr Bramhall Straub crashed into a truck parked on the side of the road.

Police performed first aid at the scene but Mr Bramhall Straub died on scene a short time later.

Nearby resident Robert Brown, who has lived in the suburb for 50 years, said tucks were often parked along Compton Road.

“This street here is shocking, trucks shouldn’t be coming here,” Mr Brown, 78, said.

“Always trucks (on Compton Rd), even along Allingham Street.

“They are a risk.

“Years ago the council wouldn’t allow it.”

In the wake of his tragic passing, family friend Emma Hanson has started a GoFundMe to help his fiance Mikaela and their family give the young father an “unforgettable send off”.

“On Tuesday, May 3 my close friend Mikaela lost the love of her life, fiance and the father of her children, Jacob, in a horrific and tragic motorbike accident on Compton Rd,” Ms Hanson wrote.

She said Jacob was the “beloved father” of two boys, aged five and one, and it was “heartbreakingly his eldest son’s fifth birthday on the day of his fatal crash”.

“Only last month Jacob proposed to Mikaela, they had planned the rest of their lives together,” she said.

“In loving memory of Jacob we would like to help Mikaela and Jacob’s family and friends with an unforgettable send off.

“Please help up make the send off for Jacob as magical as possible. Any help would be absolutely appreciated.”

Investigations into the circumstances of the crash are continuing and anyone with information or vision of a black Yamaha FZ6-S in the area prior to the crash is encouraged to contact police.
