An aspiring truck driver’s disturbing plan to abuse a young girl while her uncle was distracted has been revealed, with the aspiring truck driver jailed for the incident.

An aspiring truck driver’s disturbing plan to abuse a young girl while her uncle was distracted has been revealed, with the aspiring truck driver jailed for the incident.

The 48-year-old New South Wales man, who cannot be identified, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh District Court on May 10 to two counts of indecent treatment of a child under 12.

The court heard he was doing yard work at a Logan home on July, 2023 when he abused the victim.

He was with the victim and her uncle in the yard and asked the uncle to go and grab a shovel from the tool shed.

While the uncle was fetching a shovel, the defendant grabbed the child’s hips and pulled her in for a kiss on the lips.

The uncle returned with a shovel and the defendant told him it was the wrong type, which forced him to head back to the shed.

The man then abused the girl a second time while he had a second moment alone with her.

He grabbed her breasts from behind and also later as he was leaving, asked her to hug him goodbye, which she refused.

That evening the victim told her mother what happened and the man was arrested the next day.

The court heard he was an aspiring truck driver but had failed his test on the day of the incident.

He grew up in New South Wales before relocating to Queensland and was previously addicted to methamphetamine, the court heard.

Judge Jodie Wooldridge said the defendant’s behaviour was concerning and persistent.

“Your offending is a breach of trust. You took advantage of the relationship and the child you had access to,” she said.

He was sentenced to 292 days jail and released immediately on probation.

He had already served 292 days of pre-sentence custody.
