Angry parents say they have had enough of teens using shopping centre family rooms for vaping, hanging out and even sex, with some mums saying they now breastfeed in their vehicles in centre carparks.

More than 100 Brisbane and Logan mothers have shared their experiences on social media, including one Logan mum who now changed her young daughter in her car’s boot.

“They have been doing it for years. I now choose to change my child in the boot of my car as I don’t feel safe,” she said.

“I also use disabled toilets if I need to use the bathroom.

“I get that most of these teens’ parents have no idea — or they do and have no control — but they can’t be doing this crap.’’

Another Logan mother said a group of teens at Logan Hyperdome Shopping Centre blew smoke from their vape in her baby’s direction.

Last year, North Lakes mother Ashton Grohn walked in on four teenagers having a “weird sex orgy”. Some mothers said similar incidents were still occurring there.

A Brisbane mother said the family room at Indooroopilly Shopping Centre was often filled with teenagers.

“In February I couldn’t even open the door to the Indooroopilly parents room,’’ she said.

“I realised it had been jammed, so I pushed it and saw a teenage male and female behind the breastfeeding curtains.

“Snacks and chargers were left out all over the nappy changing station.’’

Another Brisbane mother said that while she was breastfeeding a male cleaner opened the curtain at a Westfield Shopping Centre.

“I was a bit shocked and asked why he felt he could do that. He said that he is catching teens having sex in the private rooms a lot.’’

Indooroopilly Shopping Centre spokeswoman Jessica Tye said the comfort and safety of customers, retailers and staff was their top priority.

“Centre management has not received any customer complaints regarding any recent incidents,” Ms Tye said.

“Security and cleaning teams attend our parents rooms regularly.

“This includes a 24-hour security patrol and monitoring of the parents’ rooms every 20 minutes.’’

Logan Hyperdome and Westfield were contacted for comment.
