A GOLD Coast man told a teenager “that’s not how the internet works” when she begged him not to post a topless photo of her on social media.
Kyle Andrew Drenkhan also posted online that the girl – aged 16 at the time – was a sl-- and “f---ing disgusting”.
The girl was 14 when the photo was taken.
The 25-year-old and the girl knew each other through mutual friends.
Drenkhan pleaded guilty in the Southport District Court on Thursday to possessing child exploitation material and threats to release intimate images.
Judge Rowan Jackson sentenced him to 18 months of probation and 40 hours of community service.
Crown prosecutor Jessica Guy said the pair began arguing via Facebook Messenger in late May last year before Drenkhan posted a collage of photographs of the girl with the caption: “This chick is f---ing disgusting.”
Ms Guy said he sent the photo to the girl after an argument on June 1 last year and threatened to release it on social media.
“In this age where I was brought up we look out for our friends and family.
“You are the biggest sl-- … ,” he wrote.
“I’m going to post everything you sent to me.”
The girl told him the photo was child pornography as she was only 14 at the time it was taken.
She also asked him not to post the photos.
He replied: “That’s not how the internet works.”
When the girl threatened to go to police, Drenkhan told her: “You know what happens to dogs.”
Ms Guy told the court the girl had been charged in January last year for possessing child exploitation material after she was found with the same photo.
The court was told she did not send the photo to Drenkhan.
Defence barrister John Fraser, of Howden Saggers Lawyers, told the court a psychologist’s report had found that Drenkhan was “not a person to be classified as a person with sexual interest in children or a risk to children”.
