A year after a 30-year-old business in Burleigh Heads closed, the beachside town is blooming again with a new florist.
Katie Walcott and Alexis Angelina unveiled Studio Ohara on James St earlier this month and say they have “big shoes to fill”.
The debut comes just over 12 months after street stalwart Leanne Dunn said goodbye to Burleigh Blooms.
“Burleigh definitely felt a large void with Burleigh Blooms closing down,” Ms Walcott said.
“While we have big shoes to fill, we are ready and excited to be Burleigh and the Gold Coast’s premier destination for modern, high-quality florals and locally sourced gifts.
“Everyone has been so excited to have a florist return to James St.”
Ms Walcott said they originally opened Studio Ohara as an online store in 2023 and were “longing for a shopfront”.
“We are so excited to have been able to find a suitable location in the heart of James St. It doesn’t get much better than that,” she said.
Ms Walcott said Studio Ohara did things a little differently than traditional florists.
“We are here to step out from the traditional florist shop and create an experience of luxury for our customers,” she said.
“The uniqueness of each arrangement represents the one-of-a-kind relationship we have with one another.”
