Hollywood actor Jessica Alba’s secret mission on the Gold Coast has been uncovered as filming for her blockbuster spy movie kicks off.

Last week, Alba was spotted covered in blood outside Currumbin Beach Vikings Surf Life Saving Club while filming a scene for the new blockbuster.

It can now be revealed the movie – which will not only be filming on the Gold Coast, but set in the city as well – will follow spy Eden, played by Alba, on a dangerous mission.

It will also feature Game of Thrones actor Tom Hopper who will play single father Ben Dawson, who is pulled into one of her assignments.

“Mistaken for the world’s deadliest assassin, Ben become the perfect decoy for Eden,” a Screen Queensland statement said.

“She uses the mix-up to expose a powerful network of corrupt politicians, placing Ben in the crosshairs of the CIA, Interpol and ruthless crime syndicates.”

Queensland Minister of the Arts John-Paul Langbroek said the movie was just another indication the Gold Coast was becoming ‘Goldywood’.

“It’s fantastic that The Mark will not just be filmed on the Gold Coast, but set here, putting the Sunshine State on the map for a global audience,” he said.

The production is estimated to inject $11.7 million into the local economy and employ 140 people in its cast and crew.

Screen Queensland CEO Jacqui Feeney said Brisbane’s Hoodlum Entertainment were partnering with the Highland Film Group, K’Jam Media and Westbrook Studios to produce the film.

“After great success of Land of Bad (starring Russell Crowe), we’re delighted to once again be partnering with Hoodlum to bring this cinematic-scale espionage thriller to life,” Highland Film Group CEO Arianne Fraser said.

K’Jam Media CEO Kia Jam said she was blown away by the calibre of talent on the Gold Coast.

“We’re excited to kick off production with world-class local talent, both in front of and behind the camera, on a story set against the stunning backdrop of Queensland’s Gold Coast,” she said.
