Gainsborough State School, the latest primary school addition to the every-growing suburb of Pimpama will open its doors to prep-year 6 students Wednesday following the completion of the $59 million campus build.

The unique modern design includes two playgrounds, a specialist science, technology, engineering, maths and arts (STEAM) centre, an open classroom block, sports courts and more.
For principal Clay McCann showing his students around the school for the first time has been something to look forward to during the year long construction process.
PIMPAMA STATE SCHOOL STUDENT’S FIGHT TO SAVE LIVES
“We have around 287 students confirmed at this stage but are estimating for around 310 on the day,” he said.
“This is my 29th first day of school so you learn to deal with the nerves but it will be different being a new school – a lot of people getting to know each other and the grounds.”
“We have a great team here with 40 staff ready to go.”
“My favourite part of the design is the classroom block which allows for an open teaching space. This way students and teachers can collaborate together.”
