A HOLDEN Commodore has been captured on video hooning and performing a massive burnout among traffic and pedestrians on the Gold Coast.
Bonney MP Sam O’Connor took to Facebook to share the shocking video of daylight hooning shot around the Arundel industrial area, which was forwarded on to him.
In the video, the Commodore snakes down the street pumping smoke into the air as its engine revs loudly and its tyres battle to gain traction.
The modified car does not have a front number plate in the footage and its not clear if the vehicle was also missing its rear number plate.
Mr O’Connor said he constantly gets reports “of this kind of reckless driving”.
He highlighted Frank Street, Marine Parade, Brisbane Road, Smith Street, Central Street, Parkwood Boulevard down to Henry Cotton Drive and “many of the backstreets in Labrador” as problem areas.

However, Mr O’Connor said “hooning happens on pretty much every road in our area”.
“People are sick of hearing and seeing it nightly, or as this video shows, even in broad daylight,” he said.
“This is why we need tougher action against hoons.
“I know hooning is incredibly frustrating for many locals. We’re (the LNP) serious about stopping it and these measures will make a big difference.”
Mr O’Connor took the opportunity to spruik the LNP’s plans to address hooning on the Gold Coast if the party succeeds at the October 31 election.
He said new laws would result in an extra three year driving ban on hoons whose cars are impounded, immobilised or confiscated. Repeat offenders face a five-year ban.
The LNP plans to install 100 new “covert” CCTV cameras and tyre-shredding road surfaces in hooning hot spots.
Opposition Leader Deb Frecklington previously said the Coast was being plagued by hooning gangs like the Mexican Hoon Cartel, whose members post burnout videos online, have attacked QPS officers and demanded the government fund a skid pad.
Transport Minister Mark Bailey has pledged new hi-tech night vision cameras and an expanded fleet of drones to “crackdown on hoons” if Labor is re-elected.
He said in a statement the new measures would “complement the already harshest hoon penalties in the nation”.
Theodore MP Mark Boothman recently revealed police data showing the fast growing northern suburbs of Coomera, Helensvale, Labrador and Nerang were consistently recording high number of hoon offenders.
Surfers Paradise and Southport were also considered problem areas.
Mr O’Connor urged the public to “keep reporting everything you see to police” online on the Queensland Police website.
