“You say you were drunk and can’t remember anything whatsoever, well that is no excuse,” she said.

The court was told Hunt and a friend began talking to a man by the beach at Surfers Paradise about 9pm on the night of the attack.

They chatted amicably for a short time before Hunt and his mate kicked the victim’s belongings into the sand.

A tussle began and the victim tried to calm things down by offering them a cigarette.

That did not work but Hunt appeared like he was going to walk away until he saw the Gucci designer bag.

Hunt grabbed the bag but the victim held on.

Hunt then punched the victim twice in the face before the strap of the bag broke.

Hunt and his friend took off without the bag.

The wallet which came attached to the bag went missing and has not been recovered.

The court wast told at the time of the attack Hunt was on bail for offences in northern NSW.

He has since made attempts at recovery and is living with his father in Lismore.
