Gold Coasters are set to swelter over the next couple of days with the mercury set to tip about 40 degrees.
The Coast has experienced scorching days and the heat over the past few days, while the haze is expected to continue, especially in inland areas.
Weatherzone meteorologist Craig McIntosh said the temperature could reach 37c in Beaudesert on Tuesday.
“Inland areas are expected to be inundated with smoke and very hot days early in the week, but coastal areas will still feel the heat.

‘“Those in the coastal areas are expected to have a cool reprieve of average temperatures, before a 30 degrees day on Tuesday and possibly Wednesday,” he said.
“However, with the high humidity it is going to feel hotter than the thermometer.”
Mr McInosh said the smoke haze would continue to blanket the Coast as fires continue to burn in Lower Beechmont and the wind continuously changing direction,
“The smoke will be an issue for those with respiratory conditions and it is advised those who are affected to limit exercise and keep their windows shut over the next couple of days,” he said.
