SUNNY skies will make a fleeting visit to the Gold Coast this Thursday and Friday ahead of a possible shower or thunderstorm over the weekend.
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster James Thompson said after a cooler than usual start to January, conditions were expected to warm up on the Gold Coast, with a top of 30C likely on Friday.
“One or two showers may linger before conditions ease off after quite a few weeks of showers and storms across the city,” he said.
“Things will fine up on Thursday and by Friday it’ll be sunny skies and good beach weather.”
Mr Thompson said there was the potential for showers coming from the west on Saturday, and on Sunday another trough was expected to move into the region from the south and west.
It may bring thunderstorms, particularly in the Hinterland.
“There’s also likely to be showers that come with the trough, but temperatures are still expected to be 28C or 29C on Sunday and into Monday,” he said.
“The Gold Coast hasn’t had a stretch of sunny days with light winds for a little while and it will really only be Friday that we see those sunny skies.”
