HOLD on tight to those umbrellas, the Gold Coast is predicted to be hit with wet and windy conditions this week.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) is forecasting strong winds to reach the city by Tuesday and showers to hang around for most of the week.
BOM forecaster Rosa Hoff said shower activity could start as early as Monday night with weather warnings possibly being issued during the week for strong winds.

“The rain is looking likely to only be seasonal showers, which are expected this time of the year in Queensland’s wet season,” she said.
“We’re not expecting much storm activity on the Gold Coast. The storms are most likely going to affect further north but they may change as the week goes on.
“The winds are looking to be quite strong from Monday with the potential for strong wind warning being issued during the week.”

The southeasterly winds are expected to reach up to 40 km/h from Monday to Wednesday before dropping slightly for the rest of the week, according to the BOM.
Ms Hoff said the winds will likely cause rain clouds and showers to come and go from the Gold Coast this week.
Tuesday to Thursday have an 80 per cent chance of rain with the BOM forecasting Wednesday to be the wettest day of the week with up to 45mm of rain predicted.
