A truck driver who attempted to sneak a woman into Queensland at a Gold Coast border crossing has copped a hefty fine and faces multiple drug-related charges. SEE THE VIDEO >>>

Police search a truck at Tugun border crossing

A MAN attempting to smuggle a woman across the Queensland border has copped multiple drug related charges and a $4,135 fine.

On Monday night about 7.30pm a B-double truck was intercepted at the Tugun M1 checkpoint attempting to enter Queensland.

When interviewing the driver, a police officer observed a woman hiding under a blanket in the back cab of the truck.

Both the woman and the driver were handed $4,135 Covid Infringement Notices from police and Traffic Infringement Notices.

The driver also had his freight pass revoked and was charged with drug driving, possessing dangerous drugs, failing to dispose of seven syringes.

The man and woman were transported to the Griffiths St Border crossing and given a direction to leave Queensland.
