A GOLD Coast tourism park has hit back at a scathing review from a newly-arrived family whose son was hit by a car on its grounds.

Caitlyn Mynott left the review on Tallebudgera Creek Tourist Park’s Facebook page after a car hit son Braxton on September 2.

It left the two-year-old with skull, ribs, pelvis and collar bone fractures plus a deep head cut needing internal and external stitches.

Ms Mynott claims rubbish bins placed by park management created a “hazard” partly to blame for the collision.

Management of the Gold Coast City Council-owned park were told by police to move the bins to prevent similar incidents, according to Ms Mynott.

A Queensland Police spokesperson said officers attended a vehicle and pedestrian incident at Tallebudgera Creek Tourist Park at 10.45am on September 2 and no one was charged.

The spokesperson could not confirm if police asked for bins to be moved.

A Gold Coast City Council spokesperson declined to comment on the bins: “The City doesn’t comment on the specifics of individual cases.”

Following a back and forth about payments for a cabin at the park to help Braxton’s recovery, Ms Mynott posted the review on the park’s Facebook, saying “I don’t recommend staying”.

“Over priced, no compassion, no responsibility even after our two-year-old got hit by a car in their park! And the bins shouldn’t of been where they were as it was a hazard for blind spots,” the review said.

The family wanted more compassion, acknowledged the park gave a discount “after many annoying conversations” and cancelled their future booking for their caravan, the review said.

The park responded: “Hi Caitlyn, it is very unfortunate your child was involved in an incident at the park.

“It was our staff that provided first aid and support while they waited for you to arrive. Our main concern was the welfare of your child and we are glad we were able to help accommodate you in a cabin to help him recuperate, including a couple of nights at a sister park.

“It is disappointing you are attributing blame towards us for what police deemed as an unfortunate accident between your child and another party.

“We wish you all the best in finding accommodation at a park more suited to your needs.”

The Mynotts, who moved to the Gold Coast from Victoria a year ago, are still trying to get a rental.
