Gold Coast traffic: Heavy congestion on the M1 for more than 30km
The Gold Coast stretch of the M1 was jammed with more than 30km of gridlock today as holiday-makers made their way home.

MOTORISTS endured a long drive home today with the M1 heavily congested for more than 30km as people returned home from the long weekend.
Traffic was gridlocked for most of the day in the northbound lanes between Banora Point and Merrimac.

Police said there were no reported accidents along that stretch of road.
Traffic was also at a standstill along the Gold Coast Highway and throughout Main Beach and Southport.
