ONE thing this city doesn’t lack is world-class talent across a huge range of sports. The Gold Coast Sports Star Awards were announced at a glittering gala dinner at QT Resort last week. Past and present sporting greats were in attendance to celebrate the achievements of some of our most revered athletes. The big winner was Shannon Eckstein who was named Sports Star of the Year but our personal favourite was the naming of GCCC Chief Lifeguard, Warren Young, as the winner of 7 News Gold Coast Daphne Pirie AO MBE Spirit of Sport Medal.
