A DRIVER appears to have accidentally led police on a chase down the M1 and Gold Coast Hwy, ending just before the Smith St turn off.

Police began attempting to intercept a four-wheel drive near Yatala on the motorway, in response to reports of ‘erratic’ driving.

But the driver, seemingly unaware it was her police were pursuing, continued travelling until about 800m before the Smith St turn-off.

Multiple police cars surrounded the vehicle about 11.30am on Friday morning when the driver eventually pulled over.

After a roadside screening, no offence was detected and the driver was released.
