Gold Coast crime: Ram raid break-ins at Burleigh, Miami early Tuesday

Gold Coast police are now investigating two ram raid break-ins on the southern Gold Coast, which are believed to be linked.

POLICE have revealed they are now investigating a second convenience store ram raid on the Gold Coast early on Tuesday morning.

A ute was driven through the front of a Christine Ave, Burleigh Waters convenience store about 3am,  the Bulletin was told.

Later on Tuesday, police revealed a car was also used to smash into a service station at Miami around the same time.

Initial police investigations indicate the ram raids are linked.

The culprits entered the Gold Coast Highway shop at Miami, but it appeared no items had been stolen, a Gold Coast police spokeswoman said.

It's thought the would-be thieves were again foiled by a locked cigarette cabinet and were unable to steal any tobacco stored inside the shop.

INITIAL: GOLD Coast police are investigating after a stolen ute was driven through the front door of a convenience store in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The ute was driven into the Christine Ave, Burleigh Waters business about 3am, police said in a statement.

Two men were seen exiting the ute and entering the store during the ram raid break-in.

The pair tried to break into a cigarette cabinet, but were not successful and left the premises empty handed, driving off in the ute.

Police later found the stolen vehicle in Nundah Ave at Miami.

It had been taken from a home at Robina last Thursday, May 27.

Investigations into the ram raid were ongoing on Tuesday morning.

Terrifying video shows armed man hold up Coast chemist

April 28: Police have released CCTV footage of an armed man holding up a chemist on the Gold Coast, where he demanded cash and prescription medication.

A man armed with a gun entered a chemist on Nerang St at Southport about 9.50pm on Monday.

He “made demands for money and prescription medication from the store attendant”, police said in a statement.

The robber managed to nab “an amount of cash” and he was last seen fleeing in an easterly direction along Nerang St.

No one was physically injured in the frightening armed robbery.

A GOLD Coast business has released CCTV footage of the “ratbags” who ram raided their shop on the hunt for cigarettes early on Thursday morning.

IGA Coomera Waters took to Facebook to air the footage, which shows a group of people, who appear to be youths, raiding the shop after driving a car into the front door about 3am.

One of the people in the group is dressed in dark clothes, complete with a black balaclava and the group were using a white hatchback.

“Ratbags are out this morning!” the business declared on social media.

“Not the smartest bunch. They targeted the cigarettes but left with nothing (our tobacco cabinet is a safe).”

Gold Coast police were called to the break-in on Harbour Village Parade at Coomera about 3.35am, a spokeswoman said.

Officers arrived to find “a lot of damage to the front glass windows of the store”.

Investigations were ongoing on Thursday afternoon.

Crooks smash up shop front in brazen break-in

Police are investigating after the front windows of a Gold Coast convenience store were demolished in a ram raid break-in overnight.

However, it appears nothing was stolen in the break-and-enter of the store on Harbour Village Parade at Coomera.

Gold Coast police were alerted to the break-in about 3.35am and officers arrived to find “a lot of damage to the front glass windows of the store”, a spokeswoman said.

Police believe a car was likely used to smash the windows and gain entry to the shop.

Investigations are ongoing, but police have not determined anything was taken in the incident.

The Bulletin has asked police whether it’s believed thieves tried and failed to access cigarettes, cash or other items locked away in the shop.
