A Gold Coast man who allegedly doused himself and a house in petrol and threatened to hurt his partner will face further charges.

A GOLD COAST man who allegedly doused himself and a house in petrol and threatened to hurt his partner will face further charges including deprivation of liberty and contravening a domestic violence order.

It is alleged Queensland Police officers responded to the “domestic violence incident” on O’Reilly Dr at Coomera about 9.30pm on Sunday when a disturbance was reported.

A 43-year-old man was arrested after allegedly making threats against his partner and pouring petrol throughout the home.

The man is accused of taking to the front of his home and soaking himself and the surrounding area in petrol.

An emergency declaration was made under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA).

It’s alleged the man turned on police when they arrived and had to be taken down by officers.

He was checked by Queensland Ambulance paramedics and taken into custody about 10.30pm.

His case on Tuesday returned to the Southport Magistrates Court.

He faces charges of wilful damage, contravention of a domestic violence order, choking suffocation strangulation domestic relationship, common assault domestic violence related, deprivation of liberty – unlawfully detain or confine domestic violence offence and acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm or transmit serious disease domestic violence offence.

The court was told there would be no application for bail. His case will return to the same court on May 11 for a committal mention.
