AGE is no barrier for 93 year old Victor Williams who spent this weekend pounding the pavement, and after 10km said he could have kept on going.
The Townsville resident competed in his first Gold Coast Marathon 10km race on Saturday, but it was nothing out of the ordinary with him admitting even at his age he walks and jogs about 20km every week.

Before the race, Mr Williams said he would “easily” be able to do the 10km.
“I have a gym at home and I exercise everyday. I lift a couple of 4kg weights up and down,” he said.
“Up at Townsville, there’s a big hill called Castle Hill. I do that once a week. It’s about 2.5km from my house and then I walk to the top which is about 3km. Then I head back down.”
The Bulletin met Mr Williams at the finish line. When asked if he was tired, he said: “No. I’m fine. I could have kept going.”

Despite the long journey Mr Williams said he didn’t plan on giving up marathons anytime soon, admitting he wants to continue until the day he dies.
“I don’t want to end up in an old aged persons home,” he said.
“When it’s my turn to go, I want to be out running on a track somewhere. That’s how I want to go out.”
Mr Williams is a grandfather to eight, great grandfather to 13 and a great, great grand father to one.
