THE LNP has announced a $25 million fix for gridlock on the M1’s Exit 45 at Ormeau despite a Transport and Main Roads plan already expected next month.

LNP Deputy Leader Tim Mander announced the plan with LNP Coomera MP Michael Crandon, as part of a $1 billion “future LNP Government” congestion fund.

M1 EXIT 45 A TRAGEDY IN THE MAKING

The investment would see new on and off ramps as part of improvement works to the Mirambeena Drive interchange.

But it comes as TMR prepares to announce a business case and cost estimate for their fix in August, one of a series of short and long-term upgrades across the city.

Asked about TMR’s upgrade program, Mr Crandon said: “TMR’s website also says there are business cases for Exit 41, Exit 49, for the Coomera Railway Station upgrade.

“Providing a business case for something isn’t providing the funding.

“There has been no indication from the State Government that they are doing anything in relation to (funding) Exit 45, other than the discussion I’ve had with TMR.”

There is currently no on-ramp travelling northbound and no off-ramp travelling southbound on the interchange, leaving commuters caught up in hours of traffic.

Transport Minister Mark Bailey told the Bulletin in February funding had been locked in for Exits 41 and 49, with planning underway for Exit 45.
