Lights, camera, action – one Gold Coast filmmaker is offering avid film buffs and aspiring actors the chance to star in his next production.

Off the back of winning best film and best director at the Munich Film Awards and director of the season at Montreal Independent Film Festival, Luke Sparke is calling for local talent to take up the incredible opportunity.

“We always like to give people a leg up,” Mr Sparke said.

“The film industry is one of the hardest industries to break into.

“With every film the ratio drops off for film makers to make another one – we are lucky to have broken five feature films and heading into our sixth.”

The independent, family-run production company released thriller/action film Bring Him to Me last year starring Saving Private Ryan’s Barry Pepper, Rachel Griffiths from Muriel’s Wedding, Spartacus actor Liam McIntyre and Jurassic Park’s Sam Neill.

The film is making waves, scooping up awards worldwide. And Mr Sparke said the next production was set to be even bigger.

Set during the height of the Vietnam War, the movie will be based on the book series Primitive War and will be filmed across locations of the Gold Coast in April.

“We really want to get people involved,” Mr Sparke said.

“This is a bigger production – a war/horror film, so anyone who wants to be involved in working behind the scenes, an intern, or anyone who is interested in being in the film and getting their faces on screen please reach out.”

Pre-production starts next week.

Anyone interested can visit Sparke Films Facebook page or the Luke Sparke official Facebook page and message in their interest.
