Gold Coast commuters who thought they’d seen everything on the Pacific Motorway have been surprised again.
Photos posted to a northern Gold Coast Facebook community group show a man in the overtaking lane bringing his car to a complete halt – inside the lane – and exiting the vehicle to urinate beside the road.
The user who posted the original image to Facebook wrote: “Absolute flog stops in the middle of the M1 and does this. Sadly this is why we have fatalities.”
Other users defended the act.
“Nature waits for no one … as a matter of interest, how much did this delay your life by? Six car lengths? Good on him.”
Another wrote: “You gotta piss, you gotta piss.”
A witness claimed they where positioned three cars behind the parked slasher.
“We couldn’t believe our eyes,” they said.
“Traffic was slow, but was definitely not stationary and he was in absolutely no rush either.”
Urinating in a public place is an offence under the Summary Offences Act 2005.
A spokesman for Queensland Police Service said: “Other than in an emergency, stopping on the motorway is illegal and poses a significant risk to other road users.”
The spokesman said stopping on a motorway can lead to dangerous situations, including collisions at high speeds, which may result in serious injuries or fatalities.
