A SUBURBAN house in the heart of Palm Beach is set to be transformed into an eight storey tower.
A development application has been submitted to the Gold Coast City Council for the project, which will have just nine units.
Put forward by developer Monaco One, it is earmarked for a site on the corner of Gold Coast Highway and Twenty Second Ave.
It will have 27 bedrooms spread across its “villa” three-bedroom apartments.

NEW LUXURY BEACHFRONT TOWER PLANNED FOR PALM BEACH
It will be bordered by a nine-storey tower to the west and two two-storey houses to the south.
It is the latest in a seres of towers to be put forward for Palm Beach as some residents of the suburb rally against increased high-density development.
A planning report to councillors notes Palm Beach is in the midst of significant change as a wave of towers are proposed or under construction.
“The Palm Beach area is experiencing significant development along the Gold Coast Highway corridor, with numerous mid-rise apartment buildings having been approved, constructed or under construction,” the report said.
“This includes seven mid-rise apartment towers within proximity to the subject site plus two existing mid-high rise apartment buildings.
“Collectively, these approvals and constructed developments contribute to defining the emerging mid-rise character of the Gold Coast Highway corridor.”
