A Gold Coast family who arrived home over the weekend to find their property engulfed in flames have now been told the structure is “completely destroyed”.
Community members have been working to identify those affected to offer a helping hand.
In total, 14 Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) crews and extra rural brigade firefighters were called in to tackle the blaze which ignited in the home on Gilston Rd at Gilston on Saturday night.
QFES fire investigators have scoured the scene and determined the fire is not suspicious, but have not been able to outline a potential ignition source.
The lengthy firefighting effort stretched from about 6pm on Saturday to 11.30am on Sunday.
An excavator was brought in to remove the roof of the two-storey iron and timber structure to assist in extinguishing the fire.

There are no walls left on the top floor, only brick walls remain standing on the bottom level and a QFES spokeswoman said the house was essentially “completely destroyed”.
The community of Gilston and surrounds have rallied to help the family impacted.
“If anyone know this family or how to get in touch with them, please ask them to message me privately and let me know what I can help them with … I can’t imagine what they must be going through,” one woman wrote on Facebook.
She suggested the family may need food, clothes, bedding and other household essentials.

Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics were also called to the house fire.
While no occupants were injured, paramedics kept a close eye on firefighters who battled in vain to save the home.
