Furious passengers on a budget airline flight out of the Gold Coast are demanding refunds and asking to “get off” after a two-hour wait on the tarmac.
The Jetstar flight to Melbourne, which boarded from 10.50am for a post-11am takeoff was still on the tarmac at 1pm.
It’s understood the plane was ready to take off an hour and 20 minutes after its scheduled departure.
Frustrated passengers heading to Melbourne for footy games, Formula 1 and weekends away have been complaining aloud, saying “I’m going to miss the Formula 1 for f—-k’s sake” and “we want a refund”.
Another asked: “Is it too late to get off and fly with someone else?”
A passenger on board told the Bulletin about 280-300 were seated and waiting - and running out of patience.
“Children and babies are cracking it. People are missing football games and F1 right now.”
They speculated it appeared the delay was due to an issue with “seat allocation”.
“Someone has gone to sit in their seat and there was someone else there. So two morons have debated the issue for an hour and 10 minutes.
“Surely there’s procedures for this, not hold 300 travellers hostage.”
The passenger also complained that no water had been offered the entire time.
Jetstar has been contacted for comment.
