HERE’S a genuine scoop that’s sure to have ice cream fans on the Gold Coast excited.
Today’s the day to score a free flavour hit from one of the world’s most recognised ice cream brands.
Ben & Jerry’s Gold Coast stores are participating in Free Cone Day – a much-loved international giveaway with no strings attached.
And already staff are gearing up for what the company dubs the most ‘dough-licious’ time of the year.
Ben & Jerry’s team members – regional manager Ashleigh Joseph and Surfers Paradise assistant manager Spencer Luetchford – agree it’s the most fun day to be rostered on.
“It’s definitely the best day to work here, we’ve got the music going and entertainment – it’s just a really good time,” Mr Luetchford said.
“It’s very high energy, everybody is so excited. Who doesn’t love free ice cream?” agreed Ms Joseph.
All Gold Coast staff will be working at some point today, with eight to 10 employees in-store at a time and more than 7000 scoops expected to be dished out.
“In the past we’ve done 7000-8000 scoops, but since we haven’t had Free Cone Day in a few years we’re expecting to crack the 10,000 mark,” Ms Joseph said.
For those looking to grab a tasty, cool treat between noon and 8pm on Monday, April 3, simply line up at one of the stores in Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach Waters, or Burleigh Heads and choose a flavour – no promo code or sign-up required.
“Free Cone Day is all about giving back to the community like when Ben & Jerry’s first opened, and this year’s is really important because we haven’t had one in four years due to Covid,” Mr Luetchford said.
“There’s no limit, you can line up as many times as you want, and we often have a few people come back for seconds,” Ms Joseph added.
