The owners behind Kirra Beach’s newest restaurant say they are bringing a flavour of Europe to the beachside suburb.
The family behind Siblings - Peter Cianci, Tracey Cianci, TJ Cianci and Jarrod Kyle - have announced they are opening their new restaurant Hanks on October 24.
“We are very excited to be opening our sister restaurant to Siblings and look forward to giving our customers another mouth-watering culinary experience,” Mr Kyle said.
He said the new “moody, elegant and funky” restaurant was inspired by the family’s trips to Europe and named after their German Shepherd, Hank, who passed away late last year.
“We wanted to bring a European flavour to Kirra,” Mr Kyle said.
“We believe in the joy of sharing and our ethos is ‘the platter is the table’.”
Mr Kyle said the 100-seat venue would feature “expansive open windows to let the salty sea breeze flow through”.
The entree menu includes breads by Bread Social, paired with cured and sliced meats, and a selection of small plates including burrata with caramelised honey and fennel seeds.
The mains feature stuffed shells with napoli sauce, gratitnated pecorino plus pork cotoletta.
Mr Kyle said the desserts included cannolis with whipped ricotta filling and toasted pistachios.
The family-run business took over the space, which was left vacant by Kirra’s 15-year-old Bread and Butter restaurant.
“Bread and Butter will always be missed,” Mr Kyle said.
“We love our local community and look forward to welcoming everyone to experience our carefully curated menu.”
