THE brother of murdered mum Tara Brown has died, with friends and family mourning their beloved “cuz” as “the most loving son, partner and father”.
Rikki Brown, a father of two, died this week at age 30, more than seven years after his sister’s death and close to the 20th anniversary of his father Patrick’s death.
There were no suspicious circumstances.
Friends are rallying around his mum Natalie Hinton and partner Sade Kerrison to raise funds for his funeral service.
Friends with Dignity, a not-for-profit group which raises awareness of domestic violence, paid tribute to Mr Brown.
“Rest in Peace Rikki, no more pain,” the organisation said in a statement.
“Our deepest condolences go out to our friend Natalie Hinton and her family at this very difficult time.
“Having lost her partner/husband, Patrick 20 years ago and then her daughter Tara Brown, Natalie has now lost her son Rikki.
“The ripple effect of domestic violence is complex and the pain and suffering is ongoing
Losing his dad and then his sister, a victim of domestic violence to whom he was so close was just unbearable.
“Their upcoming anniversaries and birthdays may have been a trigger, we will never know but what we do know is that the impact of domestic violence has long term effects.”
Mr Brown, who graduated from Benowa High School in 2010, was a passionate rugby fan who had been close to his older sisters before her death at the hands of bikie Lionel Patea in September 2015.
In recent years he had remained involved in the Tara Brown Foundation for Domestic Violence Relief.
A fundraiser has been launched by friend and Burleigh Waters resident Santana Morgan which has already secured nearly $20,000 in donations.
“Rikki was the most loving son, partner and father to his children and step children,” she wrote.
“The family appreciate all of your kind words, hugs and support.
“I would like to ask you all to support Rikki’s family in this time by alleviating the financial stress of the service and the ongoing costs to Sadē and his children while they grieve his passing.”
Grieving friends have posted tributes to Mr Brown.
Lesi Tawake said Mr Browne would be “sadly missed”
“It was just on Saturday afternoon after our game we were having a beer and chatting away about our game and not once did I caught on that something was wrong,” he said.
“I woke up this morning with tears in my eyes and mixed emotions, after finding out you have left us, not realising that I said my last good byes to you on Saturday night.”
Eliki Vunitabua wrote: “Love you bro, too surreal can’t understand it!!”
