Commuters face heavy delays after car on tracks at Sundale Bridge halts Gold Coast trams

Warning for anyone heading off on the morning commute – trams have just started running again for large parts of the line after hours stuck at a standstill.

What does your tram route number say about you?

TRAMS on the Gold Coast ground to a halt after a car drove onto tram tracks and lodged itself there in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The silver ute was spotted by motorists and emergency services called at 3.17am.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested for drink driving.

Trams in both directions between the Gold Coast University Hospital and Broadbeach South were suspended but have since started to run again.

Delays are expected and police are still on scene.

TransLink announced earlier this morning it would organise railbuses to get commuters to and from their destination.
