Police are searching for a driver who fled the scene of a dramatic car versus tram crash in Surfers Paradise on Sunday night.

Police are searching for a driver who fled the scene of a dramatic tram crash in Surfers Paradise on Sunday night.
A tram and a car were both travelling south on Surfers Paradise Boulevard about 9.30pm when they collided at the intersection of Markwell Ave.
Police said they were called to the scene about 9.40pm, but the car driver had fled on foot.
The car had not been reported as stolen.
A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said the tram driver, a man in his 40s, was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
She said no major injuries were reported.
Police are urging the car driver and anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward.
The driver is described as a man in his late 20s, about 180cm tall, medium build with tattoos and dark hair.
He was wearing a white basketball singlet, white shoes and dark shorts.
Investigations were ongoing.
