AN alleged thief has learnt a thing or two about personal security the hard way.
Police are investigating after a man allegedly involved in a break-in of a home and attempted theft of two vehicles at Highland Park left his phone at the crime scene.
A police spokeswoman said initial investigations suggested three people attended the Moroccan St address in a white sedan this morning.
They allegedly entered the home through an unlocked door where they stole car-keys.
The spokeswoman said the three people then used the stolen car-keys to enter two vehicles parked in the driveway – a red 2020 Mazda 3 hatchback and a white 2021 Kia Cerato sedan.
It is understood the trio were interrupted when a 29-year-old resident began chasing them, with one dropping their phone.
The spokeswoman said the three people then fled the scene in the vehicle they arrived in, leaving the stolen car-keys at the scene.
Investigations are continuing.
