A Gold Coast dog owner fears her pets will be baited after she received a vicious threatening letter warning her to “make them shut the f**k up before I do”.

Labrador resident Eleesha Colella found the handwritten letter on her front door after she arrived home from work on Tuesday evening.

“Your dogs charge the fence and have the most awful, angry bark I’ve ever had to hear every day,” the anonymous letter read.

“Make them shut the f**k up before I do!! Thanks!”

Ms Colella, who owns a boxer cross staffy and a labrador cross staffy, said her initial reaction to finding the letter was “shock and confusion”.

“Most of all though, I’m concerned. This is a threat and I know some people aren’t above throwing bait over the fence to get dogs to shut up,” she said.

“It’s heartbreaking and gut wrenching. I have to choose between locking my dogs up in the house or risking their safety when they’re left in their yard to just be dogs.”

The Labrador woman said she had not been approached by any neighbours, or received a complaint from council about her dogs before she received the letter.

“If you have an issue, pop on over for a chat,” Ms Colella said.

“I’ll absolutely be reporting this to the police and council as well as putting up security cameras and sensor lights.

“I won’t be taking any risks with my pets.”

In June, city council data revealed the Gold Coast’s worst suburbs for noise complaints were Southport, Pimpama and Upper Comeera.

Gold Coast City Council fielded more than 4600 noise complaints over the 12 months, including everything from barking dogs, hissing cats and commotion on private and public land.

This was an average of 12 complaints per day.

The council recommended speaking with your neighbour if you had a complaint about a noisy or barking dog.

If that doesn’t work, a complaint can be made to Gold Coast City Council online.

If necessary, an abatement notice can be issued to the dog’s owner.

And if they don’t comply with the notice, they can be fined.
