ALDI shoppers have been left stunned after one of its Gold Coast stores made a shocking announcement.

The German discount supermarket chain has revealed its Carrara store will close at 11am on December 24, 2021.

The community found out via a notice shared to a local Facebook group.

It said shoppers could visit the Aldi Mermaid Waters store and Aldi Nerang store instead after December 24.

“Apologies for any inconvenience caused,” the notice said.

An Aldi spokeswoman said it was thankful for the ongoing support from the community.

“As we continue to optimise our store network to meet the expectations of our shoppers, it was determined that the size of this store was too small,” she said.

“We acknowledge, and are sorry for the inconvenience this will cause for regular shoppers to the store.

“All of our employees at Carrara will be offered positions at alternative Aldi stores.”

The store has operated in the Coco Shopping Centre for the past decade.
