A high-powered panel features new Experience Gold Coast CEO John Warn, Village Roadshow Studios president Lynne Benzie, the Star Entertainment Group CEO Robbie Cooke, Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate, Gold Coast Light Rail Business Advisory Group chair Stephen Harrison, Griffith University vice chancellor and president Professor Carolyn Evans.

News Corp and TV media personality Joe Hildebrand will be MC.

Mr Weiss has been involved with Mr Luhrmann’s film production career since it started with Romeo and Juliet, spanning Moulin Rouge, Australia and more recently Elvis, which was filmed and edited on the Gold Coast before the tourism capital hosted its global premiere attended by A-lister Tom Hanks and Elvis star Austin Butler.

Mr Weiss will be offering insights into the burgeoning momentum of the city film industry and its potential to grow into what some are describing as Hollywood 2.0.

The luncheon on November 17 will follow a two-week editorial series in the Gold Coast Bulletin examining the movie industry growth potential, the growing pains of the city’s booming and congested northern suburbs, the diversifying economy including health and education and more.

Tickets to the event at SeaWorld Resort are $175 per person or $1600 for a table of 10.
