Ballina brawl: Three people charged with alleged Ballina brawl which killed Jesse Vilkelis-Curas

Police have charged three people for allegedly being involved with the death of a man after a brawl broke out near a popular pub.

POLICE have charged three people for allegedly being involved with the death of a man after a brawl broke out in Ballina last month.

Just before 8pm on Sunday December 22, a brawl broke out near Hill and Park Streets at East Ballina.

Jesse Vilkelis-Curas suffered serious head injuries and was flown to Gold Coast University Hospital where the 24-year-old man died on December 27.

Yesterday police charged a further two people in relation to the fatal brawl.

Two days ago, NSW police used a battering ram to enter a Tweed Heads West house and arrested an 18-year-old for the alleged murder, assault occasioning death and affray.

Following his arrest, the 18-year-old was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station and charged.

He was refused bail to face Tweed Heads Local Court on Wednesday, two days ago.

Memorial for Jesse Vilkelis-Curas, 24, who died in hospital after a brawl outside a pub at Ballina in northern New South Wales.

Three days ago, a 22-year-old man was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company, affray and assault in relation to the brawl.

He will appear at Ballina Local Court on February 12 2020.

Yesterday police charged a further two people in relation to the alleged murder.

A 19-year-old from Alstonville went to the Ballina Police Station where he was arrested and later charged with affray, assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company, and common assault.

He was conditional bail to appear at Ballina Local Court on Wednesday February 12.

A 26-year-old from Ballina was issued with a Field Court Attendance Notice for possess prohibited weapon.

He will appear at Ballina Local Court on Wednesday 26 February 2020.

Investigations are continuing.
