Gold Coast family have won big on the Saturday night lotto after purchasing a ticket at a Southport agency

Six members of a Gold Coast family are celebrating after scooping a division one lotto jackpot at the weekend. Here’s how they did it.

A GOLD Coast family has won big bucks on the Saturday night lotto, scooping almost half a million dollars.

The six-member family syndicate held one of the nine division one winning entries nationally in Saturday’s Gold Lotto draw 3895.

Each has won a share in the prize of $456,752.50.

The lucky syndicate 12-game entry ticket was purchased at Slacks Newsagency & Casket in Southport.

The syndicate leader said she almost didn’t answer her phone this morning but was very glad she did.

“It’ll probably take a while for it to sink in. I still can’t quite believe it,” she said.

The Gold Coast family are yet to decide what they are going to spend their big win on.

“There’s six of us altogether in this syndicate. It’s just a family tradition I started a few years ago and we’ve just kept it going ever since.

“I can’t wait to tell everyone the good news!”

Each member of the family syndicate are set to receive a share worth more than $75,000 each and they are all deciding how they are going to spend their big win.

“For me, I might go travelling around Australia,” the leader of the syndicate said.

“Thanks to this, we won’t have to worry about the price of fuel.”

Owner of Slacks Newsagency & Casket Scott Garson said this was the first time his outlet had sold a division one winning entry in its eight-year history.

“We’ve finally done it. It’s been a long time coming so I’m pretty happy it’s finally here,” he said.

“We’re ready to sell another one now and make it two in a row.”

The lucky lotto ticket was purchased at a news agency at Southport.

So far this calendar year, Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto and Saturday Gold Lotto have created 159 millionaires across Australia.

The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3895 on Saturday 17 November 2018 were 26, 19, 31, 30, 6 and 18, while the supplementary numbers were 25 and 16.

Across Australia, there were nine division one winning entries in the Saturday Gold Lotto draw.
