ALLEGED hit and run victim Preston Potter, 16, has spoken his first words since being struck by a car 15 days ago.
The teen's family were overjoyed to hear him speak as he was wheeled into surgery on his broken leg.
Friend Budd Seeto, speaking on behalf of the family, told the Bulletin Preston, speaking in broken sentences, had asked dad Gavin Potter if he could go home already.
Mr Potter said his son was still readjusting after coming out of a coma.
“(He) looks completely and utterly overwhelmed, frustrated and frightened but also tried to smile once or twice,” he wrote on social media.
“He gave me a hug with his left arm (yesterday) morning which was just heartwarming and incredible.”

This morning Preston remained in the Gold Coast University Hospital intensive care unit, with head injuries and a badly broken leg and jaw.
He has recorded a number of big milestones this week as he was regained consciousness, following the horror accident on Bermuda St at Burleigh Waters on June 6.
Yesterday Preston had begun to communicate through actions.
“He was grabbing at his broken leg and his dad told him to punch his hand if he was in pain and he was able to gently do it,” Mr Seeto said.
“It was only a couple of days ago he was just opening his eyes for the first time and staring.
“Now he can understand what people are saying to him and he tracking well.”
