Mystery $700k North Geelong Lotto winner found

A lucky Geelong resident is now more than $700,000 richer after discovering he held a winning lottery entry.

A lucky Geelong resident is now more than $700,000 richer after discovering he held a winning lottery entry.

The mystery ticketholder came forward on Wednesday morning and was one of seven division one winning tickets drawn on October 22.

It comes as a second Geelong man won $100,000 and promised to share the lottery prize with his children.

He bought the winning entry online for the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot which was drawn on Monday.

The man said he had no idea his ticket had won him $100 000 when he was asked to contact the lottery company.

“I was certainly hoping there was going to be some good news … and it is,” he said.

The father said he regularly played the raffle-style draw and was excited to tell his wife the good news.

He plans to share his winnings with his children and take his family out to dinner to celebrate.

“I’ve got kids and they’ve got mortgages, so I’ll use this to help our kids outs,” he said.

The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize now stands at $1 million while the super jackpot is now $760,000.

Meanwhile, new data shows 25 Australians have failed to claim their lotto winnings - totaling more than $22m.

Victoria has two major winners who can collect more than $1.2m. In NSW, there are 11 unclaimed wins worth more than $9.5m, while Queensland winners are missing out on more than $5.5m and WA has three major unclaimed prizes totaling $5.9m.

The most significant unclaimed prize, $4.8m, is waiting for a Set for Life division one winner.

“We’ve had winners come forward in the past having found an old ticket under the fridge, in the back of a drawer, or tucked away in the glovebox of their car,” he said.

Winning lotto ticket not yet claimed

An unknown Geelong resident could be more than $700,000 richer after buying a winning lotto ticket at the weekend.

The yet-to-be-identified winner scored $717,780 after buying the ticket from Corner Exchange Lotto in North Geelong.

The ticket was one of seven division 1 winners drawn on October 22.

Five of the seven division 1 wins were believed to be drawn by Victorians.

“We’re encouraging anyone who purchased an entry at Corner Exchange Lotto to check their tickets today and contact us on 131 868 if they discover they’re holding a division 1 winning entry,” The Lott spokesman said.

“In Victoria, people have 12 months to claim their prize directly from us. After that time, they can claim the prize from the Victorian State Revenue Office.”

Last month a Geelong man took home $1m after changing his regular numbers by mistake.

“I usually religiously check my tickets straight after the draw, but for some reason, I didn’t this time,” he said at the time.

“I’m looking at my ticket now, and I’ve realised I’ve even marked the numbers wrong, too.

“They’re special numbers, and I use them every time, but one of the numbers on this ticket is entirely wrong.
