Accused murderer James Farquhar fronts court over Jayme “Chugs” Sykes killing

A Colac man charged with murdering a young Geelong barber in the CBD has appeared in the Supreme Court.

An accused killer has appeared in a Melbourne court over the slaying of a Geelong barber in the CBD.

James Farquhar, 26, appeared in the Supreme Court on Wednesday charged with murdering Corio man Jayme “Chugs” Sykes in an alleged knife attack.

Mr Sykes, 20, was allegedly fatally stabbed on Little Malop St in the early hours of October 27.

Mr Farquhar, from Colac, faces a single charge of murder over his death.

His defence barrister, David Cronin, appeared during the hearing.

Prosecuting barrister Nadia Kaddeche also appeared.

The hearing continues before Judicial Registrar Tim Freeman.
