HE’S king of the Sovereign Islands and has ploughed more than $31 million into his bid to rejoin the Senate — but before that, Clive Palmer dressed in a fluffy bunny suit and smeared peanut butter on a fake Tony Abbott.

A 2015 video of the puzzling stunt, for Perth radio station 92.9, has resurfaced online and, it must be said, it’s a solid effort to Make Australia Great.

The 57-second clip is a parody of Galantis track Peanut Butter Jelly, and opens with Mr Palmer enthusiastically dancing with a radio host and a jar of peanut butter.

It escalates from there, with the former Member for Fairfax appearing in a fluffy bunny suit and smearing peanut butter onto the hairy naked chest of an unidentified man who is clad in red budgie smugglers and a face mask depicting former Prime Minister Mr Abbott.

The duo’s strange dance then erupts into a bizarre daytime house party, complete with streamers and dancing women.

It was filmed in simpler times — a few months before his Townsville QNI nickel refinery collapsed with $300 million in debts, putting 787 people out of work.

Mr Palmer today claimed he’d paid $7 million in outstanding entitlements to former QNI workers, although they won’t see the funds until at least three days after the May 18 election.

The Federal Government has already picked up the remaining $74 million tab.

His United Australia Party is fielding candidates in all Gold Coast electorates, with Mara Krischker in Fadden, Paul Creighton in Forde, Gary Eiola in Moncrieff and Fiona Mackenzie in McPherson.
