A teenager has been charged over a fatal crash which killed his mate at Oxenford this year just days after a desperate plea from the victim’s mother.

A TEENAGER has been charged over a fatal crash which killed his mate at Oxenford earlier this year.
Police have charged the Pimpama student, now aged 18, with one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death.
Jase Grant, 15, was a passenger in the back seat of a Mitsubishi lancer when it crashed at high speed on Tamborine-Oxenford Rd on May 20.

The car collided with a ute containing a mother and her two children in the early afternoon.
Police at the time of the crash said speed was a factor.
The Coomera man who was 17 at the time of the crash is scheduled to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on January 23.
The arrest comes just days after The Bulletin spoke with the victim’s mother, who called for closure and answers.

“The best thing I could hope for, for Christmas, is for some answers,” Erryn Grant told The Bulletin last week.
The driver, who has been charged, suffered critical injuries in the crash himself, while two other passengers of the lancer and three occupants of the ute suffered minor injuries.
