Gold Coast crime: 12-year-old boys charged over alleged violent robbery at Helensvale train station

A pair of 12-year-old boys have been charged with a violent and brazen attack on another boy. Police allege they were part of a gang which dragged a child from a taxi and beat him so viciously his jaw was fractured.

A PAIR of 12-year-old boys have been charged with a violent and brazen attack on another boy.

The alleged attack occurred at Helensvale train station around 6.30pm on Sunday night when a group of four boys and a girl approached the boy and attacked him.

A 12-year-old Labrador boy was this morning charged with armed robbery, stealing and going armed to cause fear.

A 12-year-old Marsden boy has been charged with robbery in company, stealing and possess knife in public place.

The boy ran to a taxi rank and climbed into a taxi to escape the group but police allege the boys dragged him from the car and brutally beat him before stealing his shoes and attempting to take his phone.

Police say one of the children then escaped into nearby bushland while the other four left by train.

The injured boy was left with a fractured jaw, chipped tooth and grazing.

Family friends helped him home from the scene and he was taken by his grandmother to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.
