The boy ran to a taxi rank and climbed into a taxi to escape from the group but police allege the boys dragged him from the car and brutally beat him before stealing his shoes and attempting to take his phone.

One of the children then escaped into nearby bushland while the other four left by train.

The injured boy was left with a fractured jaw, chipped tooth and grazing.

Family friends helped him home from the scene and he was taken by his grandmother to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.

Investigations continue.

It is the third such attack on a young person on the Gold Coast in recent months.

In January a 15-year-old girl was attacked outside Coomera Town Centre near the area’s train station.

A teenager was viciously beaten at Westfield Helensvale some days later.
